Dabos with Buddha

The Buddha's first two schools of learning were the Ashrams of two Lersi Hermits

The Buddha’s first two schools of learning were the Ashrams of two Lersi Hermits. He learned as much as his teachers knew in each of the two Ashrams, and was begged to stay on there as a teacher by both Ashrams. But the Lord Buddha saw in Completing the trainings of each Ashram or School of Thought, that neither of them was a solution to put an end to Suffering. He then decided to try the other method which was popular in those days, namely ‘Dhukka Kiriya’ or ‘Self Deprivation’ the torturing of the five Khandas (Skandas), to find out if this was the way to achieve Enlightenment. He left the two Ruesi and their Ashrams and entered the Forest to begin his first Great Ordeal, which would lead to the realization of the Middle Way, and his Final Enlightenment beneath the Bodhi Tree.
